Every human being makes immediate, snap decisions about new people or situations. This process is called Unconscious Bias, and it can have a profound influence on how we live and work. The brain will subconsciously create an internal short-cut which categorises individuals based on gender, age, race, mental health, disability and more. It can also affect many of our decisions within the workplace, including who we choose engage with and how we engage in conversations about mental health. For many people, approaching and having the conversation about mental health can be a daunting experience.
This session will provide guidance and practical strategies on how to have a safe and effective conversation with someone at work who may not be OK and ensure unconscious bias isn’t impacting our conversations.
