Description

In contrast to small-group workshop-style learning with standardized content, TELUS Health Learning Forum sessions offer:

  • 60-minute expert-led virtual sessions that can be delivered to large group audiences
  • Flexible format designed to highlight presenter expertise while also customized to client context and areas of interest.
  • Combination of information and personal experience and insights: to inspire and plant seeds for further learning.
  • Ideal for introducing particular topics and/or commemorating important days in the annual calendar

  • TELUS Health Learning Forum:  Anti-racism
    • This session is designed to allow an open forum to explore the impact of racism in the workplace, and the role employees and leaders can play is providing allyship.
    • Sample questions to explore include:
      • What is a microaggression?
      • What are the impacts of microaggressions?
      • What is systemic racism?
      • What is anti-racism?
      • What is allyship?
  • TELUS Health Learning Forum: Truth and Reconciliation
    • This session is designed to build awareness of issues impacting Indigenous-Settler relations and to explore ways that participants can actively engage to become allies and support reconciliation in the workplace and community. Specific discussion points will be customized in collaboration with the expert presenter.
    • Sample questions to explore include:
      • What does reconciliation mean?
      • Why is truth needed before reconciliation is possible?
      • What do you think are the biggest gaps between Indigenous and Settler understanding of the past and ongoing impacts of colonization?
      • What can people do everyday to support truth and reconciliation?
  • TELUS Health Learning Forum:  Ableism and Disability Awareness
    • This session is designed to build awareness about how ableism creates barriers to inclusion in the workplace and the community for people with disabilities. The goal of the session is to build understanding of how to act as an ally and promote inclusion.
    • Standard discussion points include:
      • Why do we need to talk about ableism?
      • How does ableism create barriers in the workplace?
      • How can we make workplaces more inclusive for people with disabilities?
      • How can allies respectfully communicate and engage around disability and accommodations?
  • TELUS Health Learning Forum: Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace
    • This session aims to provide valuable insights and strategies for creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for neurodivergent individuals.
    • Sample questions to explore include:
      • Why is it important to include neurodivergence when thinking about how to diversify a workplace?
      • What does neurodivergence look like in a workplace?
      • How can universal design practices/accommodations support an inclusive workplace?
      • How can allies respectfully communicate and engage with colleagues around neurodiversity and accommodations?
  • TELUS Health Learning Forum: Psychological Safety in the Workplace
    • Psychological Safety must be treated as a top priority as it is a vital part of every company’s culture and future. This session is designed to build general understanding of Psychological Safety and how it can impact the workplace.
    • Sample questions to explore include:
      • What is psychological safety in the workplace?
      • Why does psychological safety matter in the workplace?
      • How do I recognize psychological safety in the workplace?
      • How do we foster and support psychological safety in the workplace?
  • TELUS Health Learning forum: 2SLGBTQIA+ workplace inclusion
    • The TELUS Health Learning forum offers an engaging and inclusive space for self-reflection, open dialogue and learning about 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion in workplace settings.
    • Sample questions to explore include:
      • What does allyship with 2SLBGTQIA+ communities look like?
      • How do we ensure the allyship is meaningful? (e.g. avoiding rainbow-washing)
      • What is the role of allyship with 2SLBGTQIA+ colleagues in workplaces?
      • How do we build a culture of allyship?
  • TELUS Health Learning forum: Mental Health Challenges and Stigma in the Workplace
    • This session is intended to provide an understanding of the challenges individuals face in the workplace and the stigma surrounding discussion of these issues, and provide some guidance on creating a stigma free workplace.
    • Standard discussion points include:
      • What does a stigma free workplace look like?
      • What are the different kinds of stigmas and how do they impact individuals, families, communities, and workplaces?
      • How can workplaces create a stigma free environment for individuals with mental health conditions?
      • What are subtle examples of stigma that typically go unrecognized in our everyday life?

Structure

Format

  • These sessions are organized around a series of guiding questions and/or prompts related to the chosen topic.
  • The presenter will work through this series of guiding questions in an engaging and accessible format while also interacting with and responding to audience questions in real time.
  • The questions/prompts that guide the session will be informed by:
    • the presenter’s expertise, and
    • the session objectives as explored through a client meeting held prior to the session.

Notes

  • Presentations will be made virtually
  • Emphasis is on developing key insights and inspiration for deeper learning rather than providing in-depth content – not a training/workshop format
  • We recommend following up Learning Forum sessions with additional participatory workshop-style sessions
