Description

This workshop builds important foundations for awareness of histories, identities, and issues of exclusion and oppression faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ people. Participants will become familiar with key terminologies and explore lived experiences of the diverse array of identities under the broad umbrella of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sex characteristics.  Participants will recognize key stereotypes and myths that impact 2SLGBTQIA+ people and begin exploring inclusion

Structure

Part 1 – Introduction: 2SLGBTQIA+ History; Moral, Legal and Business Case for Inclusion

Part 2 – Terminology and Context: Important Concepts and Terms related to 2SLGBTQIA+ Identities; Pronouns; Intersectionality

Part 3 – What 2SLGBTQIA+ Identities Face: Discrimination; Myths and Stereotypes

Part 4 – Putting it into Practice: Applying a Lens of Inclusion

Course Facilitators:

This program is delivered by a specialized network of facilitators with expertise in 2SLGBTQIA+ issues. Many or all of the facilitators identify as belonging to 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and draw on lived experience as well as their professional expertise in delivery of this workshop.
